Northumberland Libraries – BorrowBox Digital Library

3rd November 2020Mrs C Allison

Northumberland Library has a digital library that can be accessed all the time. It contains eBooks and eAudiobooks for both adults and children. In the current climate it has proved to be popular with our library members and we would like to try and make more people aware of this free service. If people are not members, they can join online at the library website and get access straight away without having to come into the library to collect their card.

You can view what is available on the website here – https://fe.bolindadigital.com/northumberland. There are over 300 eAudio titles for children with lots of popular authors featuring such as David Walliams, David Baddiel, Liz Pichon and Roald Dahl.

Chantry Open Evening 30th September 2020

14th October 2020Mrs C Allison

As you will be aware, as your child is now in Year 4, they will be moving on to the next phase of their education in September 2021. The portal for applying for Middle School places in Northumberland is now open and closes on Saturday 31st October 2020. Further information about the admissions process can be found by following the link below:

http://www.northumberland.gov.uk/Education/Schools/Admissions.aspx

Final confirmation regarding the allocation of places is made on Monday March 1st 2021.

Due to the current situation regarding COVID-19 and the restrictions that are in place, we are unable to offer the opportunity for you to come and visit the school in person as we ordinarily would. However, in order to help you make your decision about which school to apply to, we have produced a set of resources and information about the school.

These can be accessed via the following link:

Chantry open evening resources 2020

Within this site you will find a promotional video, a presentation by Mr Stewart, a tour of the school by our current Year 6 students and a gallery of photographs.

It is obviously of great disappointment to us that we are not, currently, in a position to welcome you into school in person and hope that these materials will give you a flavour of our school and help inform your decision.

You can also view our main website chantry.the3river.net and follow us on twitter @MorpethChantry to access more information about our school.

As you will be aware, Chantry and Newminster Middle Schools work closely together and are both popular and oversubscribed schools. We would therefore strongly advise that you indicate both schools, in your order of preference, on your application form.

If you have any questions or queries in the meantime, about either school, please do not hesitate to contact Sarah Hall on 01670 513621 or via email at [email protected] or [email protected].

Lady Gaga. Björk. Kate Bush. Annie Lennox. Goldfrapp. Ladyhawke. What have they got in common? They’re all women who smashed their way onto the electric music scene, and you can too!

Join world-class professional drummer and musician Cat Myers to learn all about the basics of electronic music-making in a friendly and welcoming environment. From synths to samples, loops to lyrics, she’ll guide you step-by-step towards your own personal compositions. All you need to take part is a laptop or tablet device and access to wi-fi.

Cat Myers is an accomplished session drummer, composer & drum tutor, in the past few years she’s mainly been touring the world with KT Tunstall & Mogwai. As a Roland Artist, Cat specialises in incorporating electronics & samples into drumming, attempting to push the boundaries of what she can play live.  www.catmyers.com

This course is aimed at women and girls who are carers of any age living in the North East of England. The definition of ‘care’ is very broad and includes parental responsibilities and supporting isolating individuals. If in doubt, get in touch for a chat BUT we are all carers at the moment.

To register a place please email [email protected] with the following information:

Name of course
Your Name and Date of Birth
Mobile Phone Number
Postcode
Any disability we should be aware of

Let us know if the technical requirements of the course may be a barrier to you

We will respond with full details of how to access the course on Zoom. Access to the sessions will only be given to those who register via email. Consent will be required from a parent / carer for anyone under 18 years of age.

Delivered by Jack Drums and funded by Spirit 2012 putting women and girls with caring responsibilities front and centre, offering them opportunities for fun, creative expression and (re)discovery of self through music-making.

Happy National Poetry Day everyone!

4th October 2020Mrs C Allison

Our pupils have celebrated the event by analysing, creating, decorating and performing their own poems, whilst listening to the poems of other famous authors. We’ve had pet poetry, challenging poetry, nonsense poetry and poems around this year’s theme of ‘Vision’. We are very proud of our pupils’ efforts and hope you enjoy these clips from the day.
