Trout Ticklers – Chatton

15th June 2017Mrs K Shutler

The Trout Ticklers fishing group had another outing to Chatton on Saturday 3rd June, with 7 children and their parents.

After a long morning and lots of concentration and anticipation, 3 fish were caught but only 1 landed and guess who that was? Ryan Foggin is becoming our star fisher with 5 fish caught in the last 3 outings – well done.

Thank you to everyone who turned out and we look forward to the next event at Thrunton on 8th July.  Happy fishing!

There were five fish landed although others caught fish and lost them, but that is the name of the game!

Top man again was Ryan with two fish caught and Jonathan also caught a fish too!

Happy fishing!

Well done to everyone who fished as part of the Trout Ticklers at Thrunton on Saturday 8 April. It was a lovely day – the scenery was spectacular and the sun was shining.

Although not idea conditions, everyone enjoyed the day and three fish were caught – one by Joseph Jackson and two by Ryan Foggin.

We look forward to our next visit to Thrunton on 6 May – more information

Fishing at Thrunton – Saturday 14th May

24th May 2016L Dickinson

FullSizeRender (2)What a day! The sun was shining, the fish were jumping and the lodge at Thrunton was full of Trout Ticklers eager to go! Students from Chantry and Newminster arrived with their parents in tow for what was to be a great morning’s fishing.

We monopolised the top bank of the far lake where we all stood, casting our flies into the murky depths . Four instructors were on hand and in no time at all, the students were casting like professionals. The parents were very positive about the day and commented on the facilities and service we received from Thrunton Fisheries. Sport was slow but started to pick up near the end with two trout taken.

Well done to Elliot G, who caught a 2lb fish, which he returned to the water, and to Scott A, who also caught a 2lb fish, who was taken home to eat for supper!

Well done to everyone who attended and special mention to; Chloe H – a stalwart TT member and very enthusiastic! Nathaniel H – a very determined caster! Conall F – an excitable fisher! Joseph J – great casting, in a great spot, great determination – better luck next time.

It is hoped there will be a further opportunity to fish at Thrunton on Saturday 25th June – watch this space for further information!

Trout Ticklers Update from Andrew Jackson

By Mrs K Shutler15th May 2015

Next session at Higham Lake on 14 June from 8am – 4pm.

Well the first Trout Ticklers event is in the bag with a slightly disappointing turnout of 3 parents and 3 children from Chantry. Up until the day we were expecting seven parents and nine kids which would have made the day more worthwhile. I did receive a couple of last minute cry offs as children were still tired from Hawkhirst and others had SATS coming up.

However they do say it’s quality and not quantity that counts so it was great to see Josh Wade, Chloe Holmes and Joseph Jackson, all from year 5, braving the wind and rain to visit Fontburn Reservoir on a none too pleasant Sunday morning. Their enthusiasm soon countered the weather conditions and I am thrilled to announce that not only did Chloe Holmes catch her very first fish, but it was also the heaviest of the day at a whisker under 2lb, so well done Chloe. I was stood next to her, with her dad Phil and watching Chloe learn to cast was a really pleasure, I expect the Trout Ticklers have picked up their next life member!
