- Encourage critical thinking, problem-solving, and evidence-based decision-making.
- Using discussion, literacy and numeracy skills to convey and apply key scientific principles.
- Use a mixture of knowledge, skills and practical work to understand the wider world.
- Prepare students for further scientific learning and STEM careers.
- Promote sustainability, ethical considerations, and responsible citizenship.
- Foster teamwork, communication, and collaboration in scientific work.
- Celebrate diversity and encourage all students to see themselves as future scientists.
We follow a spiral approach to the teaching of Science, progressively deepening conceptual understanding through Big Questions that span across Key Stages. This method fosters curiosity, critical thinking, and connections between topics, enabling students to apply scientific concepts to real-world challenges.Â
Our curriculum allows our students to think like a scientist, asking and answering questions and use scientific literacy for citizenship in order to help them make decisions in everyday life. Through a mixture of knowledge, skills and practical work to understand the wider world. Our curriculum develops scientific enquiry skills, advancing from foundational knowledge to independent investigations, preparing students for future scientific applications.
